In my experience, writing about anything at all specialized always seems to involve acronyms and other unique terms, usually so familiar to the writer that they slip in unnoticed all over the place.  I'll attempt to collect them all here.

• ADHD - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

• AFAB - Assigned Female at Birth

• ASD - Autism Spectrum Disorder

• CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

• CPS - Collaborative Problem Solving

• DBT - Dialectical Behaviour Therapy

• ND - Neurodiverse

• ND Affirming - Neurodiverse(-)Affirming, or Neurodiversity(-)Affirming*

• NT - Neurotypical

• PDA - Pathological Demand Avoidance**

 

* The terminology around affirming perspectives appears to have shifted even during the short time period in which I launched this blog.  My earlier blog posts use the phrase "neurodiverse-affirming".  In later posts, I have switched to "neurodiversity affirming", mostly since that is what search engines seem to want me to use by their somewhat helpful and somewhat passive-aggressive sounding "did you mean... ?" type suggestions for my internet searches.  I expect the language will continue to evolve.

** Pervasive Drive for Autonomy has been suggested as an alternate to Pathological Demand Avoidance.  I prefer the latter.
